Internalized racism refers to the acceptance of negative racial stereotypes and the acceptance of white dominance by members of racialized groups. It is a consequence of living in a society where people are ranked based on race. Internalized racism has many negative impacts on people of colour. This talk will explore internalized racism and its impacts, as well as how to notice and address it in our lives. Nicola works with clients from diverse backgrounds and with a range of presenting issues. She is passionate about attending to diversity issues in her work where appropriate, as she knows that our various social positions can affect our experiences and viewpoints, as well as have implications for our healing processes. Nicola specialises in supporting people with issues connected to racism.
